Las Vegas, Nevada—- Two Mexicans in the ring is the perfect recipe for a great fight but unfortunately, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chvez Jr showdown at the T-Mobil Arena was a one-sided fight.
The atmosphere of the arena was electric as both fighters enter the ring. As Chavez enter the ring, the crowd erupted and chanted “Chavez, Chavez.” When Canelo was making his way to the ring, it was clear that it was a pro-Chavez fan base. Both fighters looked ready to put on a good show for the sold out event at the T-Mobile Arena.
From the sound of the first bell, it was clear that Chavez Jr was the bigger man but also the much slower and weaker of the both. Canelo was able to control every round of the fight. Moving up in weight allowed Canelo to be the stronger man in the ring. During the third round, Canelo landed some impressive combinations on Chvez Jr. Chavez Jr never had an answer to Canelo boxing ability and decided just to survive the fight. Chavez Jr low punch output resulted in only landing single digits in all 12 rounds. Canelo got the unanimous decision over Chavez Jr and the crowd love.

After the fight, Chavez Jr blamed the weight and his inactivity on his poor performances.

” I did not feel my power tonight, due to the weight. I was not able to throw punches the way I wanted”

Alvarez all smiles and satisfied by his performance.

“Tonight, I showed I can move, I can box, I can do all those things, I showcased myself.”

The Canelo vs. Chavez Jr fight did not live to its hype, but the event was saved when Alvarez announced his next opponent Gennady Golovkin. The mega fight that all fight fans have been waiting for ” Bombs Away.” the name of the September event. Canelo improves his record to (49-1-34 Kos) as Chevez Jr dropped to (50-3-1 32 Kos).
