Miguel “Alacran” Berchelt is Back

Cancun, Mexico– Miguel “Alacran” Berchelt was back in his native Cancun after suffering a hand injury last year. Berchelt defended his WBC super featherweight title by knocking out Maxwell Awuku in the third round.
Berchelt was scheduled to fight Orlando ‘Siri’ Salido last December but had to withdraw due to a hand injury. Awuku was Berchelt opponent in his native Cancun.
Awuku movement and jab cause some early trouble for Berchelt. Berchelt later started to land solid shots to the head and began to cut the ring. Berchelt bodywork allowed him to have Awuku drop his guard and started to land solid head shots. Awuku got caught in the third round with a straight right hand that sends him to the canvas. Awuku was able to beat the count and continue to fight. Both fighters got into a wild exchange but, Berchelt got that best of it and dropped Awuku again with a jab and a straight right hand. Awuku beat the count but was severely hurt. Berchelt jump on Awuku and the referee stop the fight at 2:43 seconds of the third round.

Talks are now heating up for Berchelt to fight country mate Miguel ‘Micky’ Roman who stop Salido last year.
