Looking at this upcoming rematch on Saturday between Joseph Agbeko and Abner Mares makes me think back to when Riddick Bowe fought Andrew Golota back in 1996 in a two fight series. Golota fouled himself out of both fights because he continuously hit Bowe below the belt and for whatever reason…Continue
Whether anyone likes it or not, both Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr are huge ratings draws in Mexico, and are turning in good TV numbers in the United States as well.
Fighting on back-to-back weekends this month on HBO, both turned in strong ratings, but in the end, the same amount of viewers, and there's probably a catch that tilts the battle toward Alvarez for the time being.
On November 19, Chavez faced Peter Manfredo Jr in Houston. The fight drew a 2.66 rating…

Before i start i just want to say that these guy's have offered a lot of service to Boxing entertainment. They have traded in some big fights and they are in no way to be taken lightly. Ok i remember this fight because i watched it on replay at a club not far from me, and at the time i was excited to watch this because of the fact that Margarito was like this whirlwind punching kind of figure that kept moving forward with constant pressure i knew this. But on the other side you had…Continue

By Ben Thompson | December 01, 2011 "They say your family is the people that you create around you every day, but your relatives is your bloodline and, I mean, you can't change it for the world. You gotta accept it how it is...I don't care what city I go to, I don't care what state I go to, I feel like home because they embrace me like one of their own. It's like…Continue

It may just be the superfight that never was. Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs) and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (42-0, 26 KOs) seem nowhere close to coming to terms on a deal to face each other in a ring next year. This time, though, the fighters aren't the ones being blamed for holding up negotiations.…Continue

"God don't make mistakes. Everything happens for a reason. I'm undefeated for a reason...it's not about the money. They say, 'Oh, Floyd is talking about he should get $60 or $70, or he should get $100 [million].' Why shouldn't I? I proved I should get it. Nobody has beaten me…

Esteemed trainer Jeff Mayweather offers his expert opinion...with some degree of professional certainty...on a variety of current boxing topics...not the least of which amongst them being his feelings on this weekends (Saturday, December 3) grudge-rematch, between puerto-rican star WBA junior-middleweight champion Miguel Cotto and denuded challenger, former title-holder, antonio…Continue

The night was July 26th 2008 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas when these two fighters squared off in what turned out to be an instant classic that would not only warrant a rematch, but have more gasoline added to the fire with a "Plaster of Paris" like substance found in Margarito's hand wraps some 6…Continue
This is my Preview of Cotto vs Margarito 2.
If you want to read a back log of my boxing opinions I post under the name ripcity at east side boxing. (I figure it is ok to mention since there is a link to the site on boxing socialist).
Now on to the preview.
First I need to say that I have issues with this fight. Margarito has lost his last two championship fights to Mosley than to Pacquiao. On this alone I fell that he dose not deserve to be fighting for a…Continue
