Amir Khan has suggested that his stablemate Manny Pacquiao consider retirement after his controversial win over Juan Manuel Marquez on the weekend, claiming the Filipino would not beat Floyd Mayweather.
Khan who was commentating on the fight for Primetime, had Marquez down as the winner by ‘one or two rounds’ and blamed the congressman’s commitments outside of the ring for his sub-par performance.
‘It was a close fight,’ Khan told the Telegraph. ‘You could see Marquez had done his homework and knew what he needed to do. When they went into the last round, I thought Marquez was going to win and Freddie Roach thought the same.
‘I thought Marquez won it by one or two rounds. I’m pleased for Manny because he is a stablemate and a good friend, but I’m going to tell him to consider retirement and not go on too long. He has some serious thinking to do – he was lucky and he got away with it against Marquez.
