SWFight.com has reported that Austin Trout will return to the ring on July 19 against Daniel Dawson of Australia, according to Trout’s trainer Louis Burke.
“Al (Haymon) told us the fight would take place on July 19th,” said Burke. When asked what the card would look like and what network the fight would air on Burke said he was not sure. He also did not have information on where the fight would take place but says he and Team Trout are willing to face Dawson in his home country of Australia.
Trout (26-2, 14 knockouts) is coming off back-to-back losses to Canelo Alvarez and Erislandy Lara, who will ironically be meeting in a Showtime pay-per-view headlining bout the week before. Trout previously burst onto the scene with a decision over Miguel Cotto at Madison Square Garden, where the Puerto Rican star was previously 7-0.
Dawson is a fringe contender at best who has lost each time he stepped up his competition. This is a showcase fight for Trout, who is still viable with a win.
No word yet on who will televise the bout, though Trout’s pact with Haymon has it likely happening either on Showtime or Fox Sports 1.
