Andre Berto has been sidelined twice this year. Once when he was preparing for his match up with Victor Ortiz in which the fans was going to be set for an interesting rematch. Victor Ortiz and Andre Berto had a knock down drag out fight last time with Ortiz being the Victor. Andre Berto was very close to the rematch until he injured his bicep/arm. During the process of that training regime his doping test came back positive. It was a small trace of banned substance. After further investigation it was determined it was a very small trace that could have came from contaminated vitamins.
Now Andre Berto wants to come back with a bang being away from boxing for awhile. This time he does not want to come back at 147lbs but 154lbs where the competition is just as fierce at the welterweight division. He wants a crack at the IBF Champion Cornelius "K9" Bundrage. Although Berto would have the speed advantage, he will not over power K9. The you have to take ring rust into consideration as well. Maybe Berto might be biting off more than he can chew right now.
K9 has been calling out the likes of Cotto, Alvarez, Mayweather, Martinez but to no avail. This fight would actually bring him some well deserved money. HBO has been backing Berto up especially with Al Haymon being his manager. I see both of them making good money. The only problem we see is if Berto can handle jr middleweights power. He had a hard time against Victor Ortiz. K9 hits harder. Berto would have to stick and move all night, but we know K9 is not going to allow that to happen. Bundrage likes to get right in the pocket and make you slug with him knowing he has the edge in power. Hopefully we can see this fight take place by no later than December. Let's see if Berto is ready for the big DAWGS (K9).
