Can Canelo do the impossible and stop Lara?



LAS VEGAS - The two best junior middleweights in the world will meet to decide 154-pound supremacy Saturday, July 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez will square off against WBA Junior Middleweight World Champion Erislandy "The American Dream" Lara in a 12-round bout. The event will be produced and distributed live by SHOWTIME PPV. Lara was originally scheduled to defend his WBA title against Ishe Smith on Friday, May 2 in Las Vegas to kickoff Cinco de Mayo Weekend withdrew from the fight to face Canelo.

Many fans are surprised that this fight is even taking place and that finally a young strong champion is willing to face the best fighters in the world to prove he is no show pony. Canelo wants to prove to the world he is the best and their is no one better than Lara, some have Lara as the only man who could best Floyd Mayweather in a fight. Lara has never lost a fight, no matter what the record shows, and this night we shall see how much Canelo has learned in such a short time, against Mayweather. WHere we saw how he buckled due to the fustration of not being able to hit Mayweather, how will he handle that with Lara.
