Collazo scores knockout over Ortiz at the 2:59 mark of round two

By Kevin Davis

Everyone was awaiting the return of Victor Ortiz, after a long layoff due to a broken jaw. Many forgotten about Louis Collazo a former world champion and a very skilled fighter himself. Coming into this fight Collazo felt as if he's been giving a second chance at the top of the world and he loves the place he's in now. Back to the fight, Ortiz jumped Collazo from the opening bell, using pressure and activity, but he was rushing his shots. He was warned early for using his head, while Collazo had a better poise and was watching to see what Ortiz was bringing to the table.

In the second round, Collazo surprised Ortiz with two right check hooks. Ortiz jumped back and then came in with a three punch combo, over and over again. He tried to use new feints to get Collazo to open up but Ortiz was throwing his punches too wide again and Collazo closed on him with a tight hook. Ortiz seemed like he could get up but then he just stayed down and was counted out, then there it was at the 2:59 mark, Collazo did it, he stopped Ortiz by way of knockout. Who saw that coming, that's why we love boxing.
