Guillermo Rigondeaux Makes $750,000 in his 12th Pro Fight

By Shawn Craddick

How many boxers can say that they almost made $1 Million dollars in just their 12th pro fight? How many can say that well into their 25th to 35th pro fight? Well, there is one guy by the name of Guillermo Rigondeaux who is signed to Toprank. He is "supposedly" about to fight Nonito Donaire the Filipino icon on April 13th. While Nonito carries the bigger name, it was Rigondeaux who captured the WBA Super bantamweight title in just his 9th pro fight which was a record setter in itself. Not too many boxers can lay hold to that claim.

Nevertheless it was his extensive amateur fights and winning the 2000 and 2004 Gold medal in the summer olympics. He's 32 yrs old and at his peak so this is the best time to go out with a bang and fight the best. More than likely he might have 3-4 good yrs left in him. Some feel he has not earned a spot at a title shot but what else does this man have left to prove? It's now or never with him. Stay tuned for the actual announcement of Nonito vs Rigondeaux. This has been brewing for awhile now and it seems like the most logical step since the Abner Mares fight fell through. Leave your comments, is Rigondeaux worth $750,000 at this point and time?

Mares had stated that he is now vacating the title and moving up to featherweight. Refused his mandatory.  Places opening up at the top for the likes of Scott Quigg and Carl Frampton.
