Floyd Mayweather has stated that it would be great to sign some off the raw young talent in Chicago. Over the years Chicago and Midwest fighters were ignored, gyms were closing, and most of the best trainers moved out west, were the grasses were greener. The growth of the NBA and the NFL led many to choose boxing as a last option, and didn't set out to box as a career, which has led us to mediocre fights. Those days are behind us as fighters like Floyd Mayweather has motivated the youth towant to box, and many like him.
Semajay Thomas, Kenny Sims jr., and Shawn Simpson are just three of many to come from Chicago that may lead to a change in the way city is looked at for it's boxing.
