I agree that the sport of boxing is growing but many fans and non-qualified experts believe that the sport is in danger, mainly because it's lifeline as we speak hangs on by a thread. Floyd Mayweather the top earner in sports, have said "I'm bigger than the sport of boxing" and each time he steps into a ring he proves those words are true. When Mayweather fights it becomes global news, while the rest of the sport, can barley get a feature on a major boxing website.
Mannny Pacquiao is second in this list even though his last few fights he has looked, not his best. Even getting knocked out badly in his last outing didn't bring anymore PPV stars out of the waters. Miguel Cotto who generates the most revenue of any Puerto Rican fighter including Felix 'Tito' Trinidad, his fans are loyal and doesn't care about his wins or loses. Austin trout didn't rise to PPV status by beating Cotto and many feel as if he will never reach that plateau, even after capturing a huge upset victory over the great fighter.
Problem is that these fighters are all on their way out the sport, some have maybe one or two fights left, boxing is trying all they can to create a new list of action stars that have the total package to carry the sport into the next era.
