Gary Russell is one of the most fastest punchers in the game today. He hits, spins, and moves before you know what's going on. He puts you in mind of a younger Roy Jones Jr. He's not that tall at 5'6 but he can hang with the best of them. The media has bashed him because of his level of competition though. Gary will tell you himself he can only fight who they put in front of him. He want's the tough test. The fans and the media want to know if he can take a punch as well as he receives a punch. Let Floyd Mayweather tell it, who wants to take punishment and get hit if you don't need too. Point well taken Floyd.
This weekend we saw Leo Santa Cruz beat Victor Terrazas in 3 rounds of action. Then we saw Jhonny Gonzales shock the world by stopping Abner Mares in the first round. Now they are talking about both fighters in the ring against each other at 126lbs. So far it is talk, so what about throwing Gary Russell in that mix? Either fighter will test whether or not Gary has a chin. He's been a pro for 4 years and is 23-0, with 13 KO's. This will be the test he needs to see if he really has the goods against top level fighters. What do you say Mr. AL Haymon? Can we see that fight?
