Jean Pascal Wins Unanimous Decision over Lucian Bute - Stevenson Next?

By Shawn Craddick

What most people thought was going to be a back and forth battle turned out to almost be a wipe-out. Jean Pascal came out with Roy Jones Jr and it seemed like they had the perfect plan to beat Lucian Bute. Pascal was the quicker and sharper of the two and it seemed like Bute was just afraid to trade. Some thought it was still shell shock from when he face Carl Froch who ended up stopping Bute. However I believe the problem was ring rust. Lucian just didn't fire no shots. At no point and time did Lucian seem hurt, but he just couldn't pull the trigger. Jean Pascal faded a little at the end of the 11th and hung on in the 12th. Bute came on a little to late. Pascal won by the scores of 116-112, 118-110, 117-111.

Afterwards Max Kellerman asked Pascal if he would like to fight Adonis Stevenson, and Pascal kinda avoided the question. He seemed more proud that Adonis was a Black fighter like him. The light heavyweight division seems stacked and we have alot more excitement to come.
