Karim Mayfield suffers first defeat by Dulorme and Kovalev steamrolls Agnew in 7

By Kevin Davis

Krim Mayfield suffers his first defeat as a pro behind the tough Thomas Dulorme. The 98-92 scoring didn't dictate what fight. Mayfield didn't have a gameplan, he used street tactics of just coming forward hard and hoping Dulorme buckled under the pressure but he pressed on and stayed behind his jab, while Mayfield just smothered his own offense. No help was Virgil Hunter who keeps believing in motivational speeches over tactical advice, knew the issues but couldn't tell his fighter how to fix the problem, and that's why this fight was harder on Mayfield, than ever.

Sergey Kovalev use Cedric Agnew as target practice.Agnew tried to counter-punch the hard hitting Russian but, he didn't use a jab to disrupt the attack of the Russian and that led to his downfall. His toughness got him to seven rounds the fight was never in question. Kovalev's seventh round liver shot was enough to call the contest and more question will be asked about the heart of Adonis Stevenson, now that he has signed with Al Haymon.
