Lamont Peterson and Jermell Charlo Post Wins in DC - Showtime Event

Lamont Peterson wanted to erase all doubts that he was done after his loss to Lucas Matthysse. Dierry Jean was off to a fast start the first four rounds. Soon after that though Peterson began to show his experience in big fights and landed the better and cleaner shots. Jean had a little flurry in mid to late rounds but then Peterson brought it on home and closed the deal. The final scores were 115-113, 116-112, and 118-111. Lamont Peterson still has the IBF Jr Welterweight belt because his fight with Matthysse was a non-title bout.

Jermell Charlo defeated tough Gabriel Rosado tonight which the fans was geared up to see. Rosado said he was going to come out and put constant pressure on Jermell but did the complete opposite. He stalled at times and was flat footed. During the stats it showed that Gabriel Rosado picked up 20lbs in one day. He went from 154lbs to 174lbs. Rosado looked lethargic in the ring and Jermell Charlo took advantage of it. The fight was almost a near blowout. There was some very good exchanges but Jermell used his speed and pivoted all night on Rosado and he just couldn't land the one punch on him. In Round five Rosado got cut by an accidental headbutt but the corner was able to control it for most of the fight. Jermell Charlo got the unanimous decision and won on scores of 97-93, 99-91, and 100-90. With the win, Jermell is looking for a title shot next. His twin brother Jermall Charlo will be fighting Carlos Molina in March for the IBF Belt.
