Superstar fighters Floyd Mayweather and Saul Alvarez, better know as Canelo, took to the scales for there scheduled, regulated 30 day weigh-in by the WBC. This measure is done to protect the fight and the fighters, many times fighters were dangerously high in weight 30 days out before a fight, which made fighters take dangerous measures to lose weight and put their bodies under dangerous amounts of stress. Not to mention it prevents cancellations of fight cards.
Many remember the dreadful cancellation of Castillo vs Corales III, when Castillo for the second time didn't make weight for the fight, when in the rematch Diego Corales decide to continue with the fight even though Castillo didn't make weight and was knocked out in the contest. He wasn't going to let that happen to him again, so the day before the scheduled contest, after hours of trying the fight was called off. Many lost money fans who already had hotel rooms and spent money on plane fare were fuming mad.
In this contest both fighters are on track to make weight, Mayweather scaled at 150.3, while Canelo scaled at 166.8, the fight is scheduled at a weight of 152 pounds, Canelo came in 3 pounds from the average. many feel he's a little too heavy, but they don't understand that fighters cut weight last few weeks in camp, cardio and strength building comes first.
