Floyd Mayweather, Jr. vs Robert Guerrero
February 19, 2013

On May 4, 2013, Cinco de Mayo weekend Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (43-0, 26 Kos) will face Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (31-1-1, 18 Kos) for Mayweather's WBC welterweight title. Mayweather won that belt against Victor Ortiz back on September 17, 2011 on a 4th round KO. After he fought Victor Ortiz, Mayweather fought Miguel Cotto on May 5, 2012 to win the WBA Jr. middleweight crown. Mayweather had a tough time fighting Miguel Cotto. Cotto had his moments during the fight but at the end Floyd came home with the UD victory. Guerrero is coming off with victories against Andre Berto to retain his interim WBC welterweight belt and Selcuk Aydin (who Guerrero beat to become the interim WBC champion). The only loss that Robert Guerrero had was against Gamaliel Diaz. That loss was back on March 9, 2006 from a split decision victory. After that loss Guerrero has been on a fifteenth fight winning streak. Along with that streak Guerrero had two fights that were a no contest against Orlando Salido on November 4, 2006 and against Daud Yordan on March 7, 2009. The fight will be at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada live and it will air on Showtime pay per view. In the past Mayweather has been fighting on HBO pay per view but for this fight it will be on Showtime. Also, along with that Mayweather signed a six fight pay per view deal with Showtime/CBS. This will be the first time that Floyd Mayweather, Jr. will be fighting on Showtime pay per view. The last time that Showtime did a pay per view was back on May 7, 2011 for the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley bout. That is the first time Pacquiao has been on Showtime pay per view since then, he has not appeared on Showtime.
Before that fight you will see Austin" No Doubt" Trout taking on Saul "Canelo" Alvarez for the WBC and WBA interim Jr. middleweight titles. The winner for that fight will most likely fight Floyd Mayweather, Jr in September 2013. I expect good fights that night.
