Finally after much dancing and talking the much anticipated rematch between WBA "Regular" Super Middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler 46-2 (35KOs) and IBF Champion Carl Froch 30-2 (22KOs) has been set for London's O2 Arena on May 25th.
The first fight, which took place in Herning, Denmark in 2010, was an excellent dust up as both swung and slugged it out right up to the end of the 12th round. Now both men will lock horns again and duke it out.
Both fighters are friendly outside of the ring but come May 25th expect a war and that is a feeling that is shared by Froch's promoter Eddie Hearn.
"This is one for the ages," said Hearn. "My hat goes off to both men for putting everything on the line here in what can only be an epic battle.
"Too many super fights fall by the wayside so to make Froch v Kessler 2 is a dream come true.
"Froch vs. Kessler 1 was a barnburner but I really feel Carl is a different fighter now, especially in the UK. These are the kinds of fights and nights that can cement the legacy of Carl Froch and no one deserves it more.
"We know what to expect from both men and either way it's going to be brutal."
It is rumoured that Hearn will pay Kessler somewhere in the region of £2 million to travel to the UK for the fight which Froch had wanted in his native Nottingham but that idea was rejected out of hand by the Dane.
Kessler, who has stood by his promise stated, "I promised Carl we would meet again and here we are, getting ready to leave it all in the ring for a second time.”
