On December 28, 2011, I can remember on my birthday two years ago that I attended Andre Ward's celebration fest at an Italian restaurant in Sherman Oaks with fans, the media and the writers. Andre Ward (26-0, 14 KOS) fought Carl Froch in the finals to win the Super Six Tournament that featured Carl Froch (who was the runner up in the tournament), Arthur Abraham, Glen Johnson, Allan Green, Jermain Taylor, Andre Dirrell, and Mikkel Kessler. Ward defeated Kessler in stage 1 to win the WBA Super MIddleweight title, then Green (who replaced Taylor) in stage 2, and then had no stage 3 due to Dirrell pulling out due to neurological issues. Ward did not want to sit out, instead he fought Sakio Bika and defeated him by a UD. After Ward fouight Bika, he fought Abraham in the semi-finals won a UD, next he fought Froch and won a UD to win the WBC, Ring title and retain his WBA Super middleweight title. Ward injured his left hand in the final week of sparring. So on the Froch fight Ward relied on his left hook that he repeatedly landed to Froch's head. Ward after winning the Super Six had fought Chad Dawson for Ward's WBC, WBA and Ring title belts and won a TKO against him. Right now Ward is ranked number 2 pound for pound behind Floyd Mayweather.
So on the Ward celebration, Joe Goossen (Ward's Promoter) talked about Ward's journey from the amateur's to becoming the Super Six Winner. Then Ward spoke afterwards. Then after Ward spoke, the reporters and media had a one on one with Andre Ward.
I had my one on one with Ward and here is my interview with him. This interview with Ward is the one that I will never ever forget in the ages because it was on my birthday and I was not expecting it at all. Ward is the second fighter that I ever interview, while my first ever fighter that I interviewed was former WBC junior featherweight champion of the world Abner Mares.
