What can I say about Shawn Porter losing his IBF welterweight title against IBF mandatory against Kell Brook?
When I saw the fight, I saw both fighters clinching, and pressing the fight to one another. Porter was working the body by landing body shots and as for Brook he was landing the big shots all day. As well as doubting everyone wrong. Before the fight everyone including me, the boxing experts except for the British people who were at the fight and British experts all favored Porter to cruise by Brook. While the British and there experts stood by and favored Brook.
After the fight the three judges scored the fight. One judge had it 114-114, while two judges overruled that score and had the fight 117-111 and 116-112. Your winner and the new IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook.
Porter came in strong in the first half of the fight and Kell took over the second half. Porter in my opinion kind of towards the end of the fight was fading while Brook did not fade off. What Porter should of done in the fight was to pace himself more and power were fading. If he would of pace himself more (Porter) would of won that fight. For Brook, he landed the more effective shots, he controlled the pace of the fight and did not let the rough tactics of Porter get to him.
What is next for Brook, the options are wide open for him. He could fight Marquez, Khan, Pacquiao, Thurman and everyone at welterweight since he won the title. For Porter, I think he should go back to the drawing board take one tune up fight and fight Keith Thurman even though Porter got his first defeat. I still would love to see Thurman fight Porter since both fighters are calling each other out even though Porter has his first defeat. he defeat that Porter received that will make him strong and make him work harder as a fighter.
My hats off to Brook for pulling the upset and fighting in the United States for his first title shot.
I look forward to seeing Brook fight again.
Here are the interviews that I did after the fight.
