Golovkin-Rosado fight & Postfight thoughts
by Christian DeGuia
First, I want to congratulate Gennady Golovkin (25-0, 22 kos) on his seventh round TKO victory against Gabriel Rosado(21-6, 13 kos). In round 1 Golovkin put pressure on Rosado and his right hand hit Rosado and GGG was on the defensive end. In round 2 GGG landed a left hand which lead to a cut on the left eye on Rosado which was the attention for the whole fight. In round 3 Rosado landed a right hand that stunned Rosado and in round 4 Golovkin landed more right hands which lead Rosado's face to tear up. Also Rosado had a bloody nose. Round 5 Golovkin landed a good left hook to the body but Rosado had a nice left up jab. In round 6, GGG hit shots to the mouth on Rosado and finally on round 7 hard right hands swivels Rosado which lead to Rosado's team to wave the white towel. Good stoppage by the corner of Rosado to stop the fight.
I enjoyed watching the fight because Golovkin did what he had to do which was to apply pressure and landed both the right and left hands. The right hand hard punch in round 2 was the attention because Rosado could not see some of the punches due to the cut on the left eye. So that was the difference for the whole fight. Before the fight I tweeted that Golovkin will win by a KO or TKO and I predicted correctly. I want to see Golovkin in my opinion fight the winner of Martinez-Chavez Jr. rematch or fight the winner of Quillin-Guerrero or Daniel Geale to unify the belts. Any of those fights will be good for Gennady Golovkin to unify the belts at 160 pounds before he moves up to fight Andre Ward or anybody at the 168 Super Middleweight division. Here is a photo that I took with Gennady Golovkin at the Guerrero-Berto fight on November 2012.
