Roberto Duran in Panama City told Dan Wakefield that Thomas 'the Hitman' Hearn was no doubt the hardest puncher he has ever been in the ring with. "Even in boxing today, I don't see another fighter like him, he was very fast and strong, I remember saying to myself, I will get him with a counter shot once he slows down, he wont see it coming, but his punches were very hard, I had to step back in that fight something I never do.
He would even go on to say that the sport will never get back to level it once was, because the times have changed. 'These fighters today would not last with us, Me. Leonard, Hagler, Hearns would knockout all of them, not just win but knockout all of them...The times have made them weak, they feel entitled for attention, like babies. They won't train if the camera crew isn't there now, the best training has always been done alone."
