This kid has an extraordinary story to tell. From the heart of Chicago, and an amateur standout, Semajay Thomas seems to be set for greatness at the 140lb weight class. As an Amateur he had a record of 64-4 with 12 KO's. In 2009, Thomas was falsely accused of first-degree murder and spent fifteen months in jail. Thomas was acquitted in November 2010, and less than 6 months after his release, he won the U.S. National Championship earning him the number one position in the 141 pound weight class. Thomas was the number one seed going into the Olympic trials, but was narrowly upset by Pedro Sosa in an unpopular decision that brought boos from the Mobile Civic Center crowd.
Now Semajay Thomas is a Professional Prize Fighter and he is fighting under the Plex banner in Houston, Texas and is being trained by the Legendary Ronnie Shields. He also has a performance Coach Danny Arnold. Semajay is now 1-0 as a Pro and is going to be fighting on the Peterson vs Jean fight in DC on Jan 25th. Just as recently as today, Semajay told us that he is signed to AL Haymon. With AL Haymon anything is now possible. Expect to see this kid on alot of fights this year and maybe within 2-3 yrs max, we will be seeing him fight for a World Title. Be on the lookout for Semajay "The Truth, and Nothing but the Truth" Thomas.
