Another year in Spokane, Washington. For the 2014 USA National boxing tournament and it marks the return of one of it's proud medalist, Shawn Simpson. Simpson of of Chicago IL, has gather much attention since his silver medal in the finals of the 2012, and was an alternate for the USA Olympic team. Last year he won the silver medal, but has returned to strive for the gold. Simpson has very fast hands, and a strong boxing posture of a professional fighter.
Simpson may look like a nice guy but there is a mean streak in him, and when he fights this friday, the 114lbs class better take notice. Trainer Nate Jones said his discipline is what keeps him balanced. "Shawn is focused man, disciplined, loyal. He knows what he wants and where he wants to go, and he ain't afraid of making the sacrifice to get there. Most of these guys have the talent but just can't make the sacrifice." Simpson has seen many of his friends past away, trying to achieve a better life and that has only fueled him to try harder for a better life for him and his family.
Living in a high crime area isn't fun for anyone, but Simpson can provide a hope for the younger generations coming up that no matter how dire the situation may appear, you always have a choice.
