"Who will remain Unbeaten?"
By Val Soliman
Both fighters had no trouble with the catchweight limit of 152 pounds, Mayweather at 150.5 lbs and Alvarez at 152 lbs. This WBA/WBC Super Welterweight Mega bout is between the two unbeaten champions - Floyd "Money" Mayweather (44-0-0,26KO's) vs Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1,30 KO's). Many questions will be answered tomorrow... Can the fight live up to the hype? Will Canelo Alvarez be the first one to beat Floyd and prove to everyone that there is a blueprint to defeat Floyd? Will Mayweather once again cruise to an easy unanimous decision victory? Does Canelo really have the power to knock Mayweather out? Or will this mega fight end up with a controversial "Split Decision Victory or a draw" that will cause an immediate rematch?
Preditions. While most of the fight fans and boxing analysts (around 60 to 70%) predicted that Floyd will win by UD12, some people (around 30%) think that Alvarez will score a KO victory versus Mayweather. After Floyd's gruelling fight with former champ Miguel Cotto, Mayweather Sr advised his so that he should stay away with those kind of fights and avoid fighting toe to toe. It seemed that the son followed his dad as Mayweather Jr easily outpointed Robert Guerrero to score a 12 round UD victory. Even though Canelo has a disadvantage when it comes to experience, most of the people we spoke with still believe that Canelo has the "Puncher's Chance"... it's boxing, anything can happen in the ring. There are some people that think this fight may end up with a controversial split decision or a draw... considering that this is one of the biggest fights of the year and may come up with a rematch to setup another blockbuster early next year - 2014.
Keys for Victory. For Mayweather, it's quite simple. He just need to do what he normally does in a fight. Stick to the game plan, make Canelo despair and chase. Floyd Mayweather is one of the best counter-punchers in the sport of boxing. If he will employ his defensive tactics, it would be an easy win. For Alvarez, he would have to make sure that he got a back up plan, if he wants to play a chess match, he would probably give Floyd an edge. If he wants to attack Floyd, he needs throw combinations, move in and out, attack the body. Hunting Floyd's head is as a hard as hell when he uses his shoulder roll and footwork. Canelo would have to take the risk and pressure his opponent from round 1-12. A problem that some fans are raising - does Canelo have the stamina to maintain a fast pace until the final bell? We'll see tomorrow.
This mega fight is expected to bring another PPV record and make a big impact in boxing history depending on who will win. The fight will be held in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, promoted by GBP and TMT Promotions along with Showtime PPV. A lot of fans have waited for this fight.. so this is it!
