Thurman shows why he is the next big thing

By Kevin Davis

While the talk of the night was the outcome of the main event of Broner vs Maidana, don't forget Keith Thurman vs Jesus Soto Karass. Undefeated WBA interim welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (22-0, 20 KOs) scored an impressive ninth round KO over Jesus “Renuente” Soto Karass (32-13-4, 19 KOs) to retain his belt. Soto Karass rocked Thurman almost immediately, but Thurman regained his senses was able to take over late in the round. More bombs in the ensuing rounds with Thurman getting the better of it. Thurman dropped Soto Karass with a left uppercut in the fifth round, but there was no quit in the Mexican. Thurman finally ended it with a barrage of punches in round nine that put Soto Karass down again.

He is now the number one contender to Maidana's title and what a fight that would be. Power vs Power.
