Without Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao is Fighting to Stay Relevant

By Shawn Craddick

Manny Pacquiao had a good streak going for away, defeating the likes of Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya, Antonio Margarito, Miguel Cotto, and so forth. On the end of everyone's breath was Floyd Mayweather. The mega fight of the year. Floyd and Manny tried to negotiate a couple of times. We thought they were close and then, Timothy Bradley upsets Manny Pacquiao. No problem, most thought Manny won and it didn't damage anyone wanting to see the fight still.

Then the unbelievable happened. Manny Pacquiao got KO'd by Juan Manuel Marquez. That was the end of talk for a Mega fight. Floyd Mayweather went on to defeat Robert Guerrero and then defeated Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Now, all we hear is who Floyd is going to fight next, but now Manny Pacquiao is fighting to stay relevant. Floyd keeps fighting new opponents and Manny is fighting recylced fighters. Bradley, Marquez, and who know what other rematch out there.

Manny is not fighting in so much in the ring, he is fighting in the media's eyes to stay relevant. The Toprank vs Goldenboy Promotions has reached it's end and it puts a damper on the REAL Mega fights. Where does Manny go from here? There is no interest in who Manny fights besides Floyd? So what do you do?

Pacquiao vs Maidana is really a terrific match... only time I see Manny facing Floyd is when his contract with Toprank ends.
