X-MAN'S 2013 HIT LIST
BY. JEROME "X-MAN" WINSTON
This is a look a head of a list of fighters to look out for next year as some of there careers have improved and some will be in limbo and questioning. Also some fighters will be making comebacks so take a look at the fact,s thoughts, opinions and rumors, for the first series of articles to come! "X-MANS HIT LIST"
FLOYD "MONEY" MAYWEATHER
After an amazing performance May 5th against Miguel Cotto Floyd has been out of the ring due to personal matters. But as we all know Floyd has announced he will be returning to the ring twice in 2013 the first will be May 4th and once again in September. Ever since the news the media has been going crazy thinking of the two opponents for these dates no official statement yet but Robert Guerrero is rumored for the May 4th date followed by a rumored Canelo Alvarez. Even though Marquez just knocked out Manny Pacquaio, Mayweather has already beat Marquez and it was one sided all the way! We can expect big names on the May 4th under card Canelo, and Broner so far we wait to hear more news from the Mayweather Camp aka The Money Team and are very excited to see the pound for pound pay per view king return to the ring 2013 it's MONEY TIME!!!
ADRIAN "BILLIONAIRE" BRONER
Coming off of an amazing knock out victory over Antonio Demarco in Atlantic City, November 17th after one of the most devastating hurricanes hit the east coast, "Hurricane Sandy" almost stopped the fight of his career but they where able to still make it happen and Adrian Broner put on an amazing performance with an 8th round TKO! Adrian Broner already has two fight dates for next year one on February 16 2013 against Gavin Rees 37(18)-1(1)-1 for the WBC Lightweight tittle in Atlantic City New Jersey. Also it has been recently seen in a video with Floyd Mayweather that Adrian Broner will Be on Mayweather under card fight on May 4th 2013, and Broner will be making his first HBO 24/7 appearance according to Floyd! Imagine the entertainment "Money May & Billionaire Broner" look forward to see Broner's career really soar in 2013!
BRANDON "BAM BAM" RIOS
Fight of the year some would say after the show Rios and Alvarado put on. Relentless brutal blows back and forth till the last man stands, and Rios was the last man standing! Brandon has called out Marquez but thinks that is not a fight he would want at this moment but there are a lot of big names out there for Brandon especially Adrian Broner who has a May 4th fight scheduled under the Mayweather vs Guerrero fight but has no opponent. His fight against Alvarado was in October so he has plenty of time to have a fight before May 4th and still be ready! but all hope talks... What is more realistic is a rematch with Alvarado and that would be huge.
ANDRE WARD
After an amazing TKO against Chad Dwason, in a fight where Ward showed his supremacy over a guy who just beat Benard Hopkins! Andre solidified his position as a top pound for pound superstar. Ward recently had a fight scheduled against Kelly Pavilik who has made a strong comeback with new coach Robert Garcia in January 26th on HBO was recently postponed. Andre Ward suffered a shoulder injury. A small tear in his shoulder capsule will set the fight back but Ward has stated he still will fight Pavlik in 2013 and has big plans for 2013 so look forward to Ward returning to the ring sooner than later!
MANNY PACQUIAO
Most people would say Manny Pacquiao should retire after suffering a brutal knockout at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez, but despite proven history of comebacks from dangerous 1 punch knockouts like this many think Manny can make a strong comeback! It takes hard work and dedication and many has already has made history before by winning world titles in 8 different weight classes! Hate Manny or love him, he is an exciting fighter and who wouldn't pay to see Manny Pacquiao's next fight! Support for Manny has even came from Los Angeles Lakers own Kobe Bryant who is suggesting and offering his own personal strength and conditioning coach to help assist Manny Pacquiao's team in training. Tim Grover the owner of a company named Attack Athletics is the same company that, the NBA's own, world recognized champion Micheal Jordan, employed when he wanted to get faster, stronger and improve fitness. Tim Grover received a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science at the University of Illinois-Chicago. He has been inducted in the UIC Hall of Fame with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and has worked with other world recognized athletes such as Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, Dwayne Wade, Hakeem Olajuwon, and over 100 other athletes. Bringing this into Manny Pacquiao's team could only help and with looking at the many champions on Tim Grover's list Manny Pacquiao would fit right in! We don't know what's in stored for Manny Pacquiao as of yet but don't count him out just yet!
JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ
Recent reports and rumors on the web insist that Juan Manuel Marquez may be retiring. Before the decimation of Manny Pacquiao in the 4th fight to an amazing epic trilogy of some of the best fights in boxing history. win, loose, or draw, Marquez apparently promised his wife that this would be his last fight and that he would retire no matter the outcome. I don't like to go of rumor but if this is true Marquez could be missing out on millions of dollars, and after years of dedication and hard work, most fighters only dream to accomplish what he has and, to be in the position he is in right now! His stock has always been well but now it's off the charts and we have cinco de Mayo around the corner. Who wouldn't want to see "Dinamite" on cinco de Mayo after his Pacquiao knock out? Let's not jump the gun and give this more time to develop.
Marquez has a buffet of fighters to choose from for big money fights, including Adrian Broner, Timothy Bradley, Amir Khan, Brandon Rios, Danny Garcia, others could be Lucas Matthyee Devon Alexander, Lamont Peterson, Jessie Vargas. the list goes on and on, all are big fights and could make him a lot of money! Let's see what the Mexican warrior Marquez will do next in 2013!
ANDRE BERTO
Andre Berto showed tremendous heart of a warrior against his recent loss to Robert Guerrero! In which Berto no matter how bad the beating never stopped fighting, never quit, and never backed down! This alone is what makes him an exciting fighter and keeps his stock at a stable place! Boxing fans know when Berto steps in the ring you can expect a war and he comes to fight! Now with the likes of Ortiz returning soon, Peterson and Bradley still out there you can also throw another possible match up in his future with Josesito Lopez now that would be a great fight! As of now just know whomever Berto will be fighting next everyone's eyes will be glued on that fight that night!
LAMONT PETERSON
Peterson (30-1-1, 15 KOs) defeated Khan (26-2, 18 KOs) by split decision in a controversial title fight in Washington on Dec. 10 2011. Then tested positive for banned substances on the road to a rematch with Amir Khan early 2012! We expect Lamont to make a statement in his first fight back in 2013. It's been a little over a year since his last performance and a lot has changed in the 140 lb and 147 lb division since he has been absent! This will be very interesting return to see. There are many opponents for him as both divisions are booming with talent here is a look at his most current fight which ended in a controversial split decision over Amir Kahn !
VICTOR ORTIZ
After having his jaw broken by Riverside California's own Josesito Lopez on June 23 of 2012 at the Staples Center in Loas Angeles California, Victor Ortiz has been absent from the ring. Rumor has it that since firing his former coach Danny Garcia brother of former trainer of the year Robert Garcia trainer of boxing stars such as undefeated lightweight champion Brandon " Bam Bam" Rios, Kelly Pavlik, Marcos Maidanna, and The Filipino Flash Nonito Donaire. There has also been rumors of Victor Ortiz wanting to train with Floyd Mayweather Sr. Since the shocking lost to Josesisto Lopez a lot has changed in boxing and Victor was planning on moving past Josesito Lopez and moving up to the 154 lb division to fight a young ferocious Saul "Canelo" Alvarez who is currently in talks with Floyd Mayweather's team (Al Haymon) in works for a possible fight May 4th Cinco de Mayo weekend for another mega ppv attraction!
JOSESITO LOPEZ
After a shocking T.K.O. to Victor Ortiz early 2012 Josesito Lopez went up to 154 lbs to fight Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in a fight where Josesito took a lot of damage but showed us tremendous heart of a warrior! Any fight this guy has in 2013 is a must watch and would be extremely entertaining, Loosing to Canelo Alvarez didn't hurt his "stock" at all he is a must watch and we look forward to great match ups in 2013! Josesito during an interview stated that any fight he would be in next will be a big one, and that any fights from here on out will be!
SERGIO "MARIVILLIA" MARTINEZ
Sergio Martinez has been on an unstoppable campaign ever since his unanimous decision lost to former Middleweight champion Paul "the Punisher" Williams back in 2009.
After ripping threw Kelly Pavlik for the WBO middleweight title in 2010, winning by a unanimous decision. Sergio Martinez record has been 5-0 with 3 fights winning by devastating knockouts, 3 fights against undefeated fighters, a stoppage, and one unanimous decision against Julio Caesar Chavez Jr in September of this year! With a record like this and coming off of a win in the biggest money fight of his career, Martinez wants to fight Mayweather, or Pacquiao, but due to recent developments Pacquiao status has changed and Mayweather is already booked to fight Robert Guerrero in May. Sergio is booked to fight Martin Murray 25(11)-0-1 April 27th 2013 in Distrito Federal, Argentina for the WBC Middleweight title. Winning this fight can give Sergio the opportunity to fight Floyd Mayweather in September if Floyd can beat Guerrero in May. Floyd already stated he would be fighting twice in 2013 in May and in September! If both fighters are able to get the win could we possibly see the super fight between Mayweather and Martinez are a possible fight that everyone would like to see is Martinez vs Canelo, or maybe a rematch with Caesar Chavez Jr. after his suspension. None of these future fights sound bad for Martinez and i believe he is gonna have one hell of a year in 2013!
JULIO CEASAR CHAVEZ JR.
SUGAR SHANE MOSLEY
Shane Mosley's last appearance in the ring was his last, against Saul "Canelo" Alavarez On the under card of one of the most exciting fights of 2012 Mayweather Vs Cotto. Canelo who sent Shane into retirement recently there have been rumors of his return to the ring in 2013 against current WBA Welterweight champion Paulie Malingnaggi who just defeated an undefeated fighter by the name of Pablo Caesar Cano 25-1-1 at the first boxing event at the new state of the art Barclay's Center in Brooklyn New York. Some say shane should stay in retirement but this wouldn't be a tough fight at all to the younger Shane Mosley, but now it might be a competitive fight. Maybe Shane has found his eye of the tiger on his vacation! We will have to see if this future hall of famer still has some gas in the tank!
TIMOTHY BRADLEY
After Defeating Manny Pacquiao in a 12 round split decision on June 9th 2012. Timothy Bradley has yet to return to the ring after multiple injuries to both of his ankles during Pacquiao fight! There where rumors earlier this year of him fighting Lamont Peterson in Miami or an Andre Berto but that never fell threw! After Floyd Mayweather announced his return to the ring twice in 2013 you would only logically assume that Bradley is sitting right next to the phone patiently waiting for that huge pay day fight with Floyd "Money" Mayweather! Floyd has been rumored to have interest in Robert the Ghost Guererro or a Saul Canelo Alvarez for his first appearance in 2013 on May 4th! Knowing this is Cinco de mayo a world celebrated Mexican holiday Timothy Bradley would not fit that marketing campaign at all. So we are all curious of what moves he will make next in 2013! "Bradley vs Rios Cinco de Mayo?????
