After the match Linares challenge Mikey Garcia. Linares and Garcia started to negotiate the fight but, team Garcia did not accept Golden Boy promotions conditions. Golden Boy Promotions wanted to sign Garcia to a multiple fight deal that team Garcia refuse. Linares is now looking for another fight and fights Garcia late next year. The front-runner to land the Linares clash is a rematch with Luke Campbell or with Golden Boy stablemate Mercito Gesta.
